Valentines Family Tree

I decided to make a Valentines tree with photos of my family. I made this tree for Thanksgiving that had tags of things I was thankful for (this picture doesn't do it justice, it looked better in person.)

Thanksgiving tree

I printed some photos at the Kodak Kiosk, it had options for mini-prints, and I selected the 9 per 4x6 inch sheet option and cut them apart. Then I cut up some white card stock with decorative scissors

just large enough to make a border and punched holes and tied 6 inch pieces of yarn through and then taped on a photo.

I decided to make it more Valentines themed by adding hearts (which were cut out of construction paper), I didn’t want to leave them plain, so I decided to write the descriptions of love from 1 Corinthians 13 on them. And then I punched holes in them and tied them with yarn like the photos.

Hearts

I then stuck some branches in a vase and randomly hung the photos and hearts on

The theme of family love can also be seen on my Stand-top Vignette.

This project was completely free for me since I had everything except the photos which I was able to get for free from CVS with a coupon. But I would guess that even if you had to buy yarn/string/ribbon, photos, and a package of construction paper it would not cost more than $5 to make this.

Sorry that all the pictures of people on this blog are blurry, but in this day and age, I don’t think my family and I really want identifiable photos of ourselves all over the internet, so I have blurred them.

  1. Love this idea! I'd like to do it in tones of black and white with maybe some damask papers? Love how yours came out!

  2. Isn't it fun to play with twigs to make home decor ? I put quilled plum blossoms on mine to celebrate Chinese new year. Happy Valentine's day to you !
