I was contacted by My Memories a couple weeks ago about doing a review and giveaway of their digital scrapbook software on my blog. So I thought I’d try it out. I’ve enjoyed making photo books for trips I’d made and having a way to do it the same no matter what printing service I used appealed to me. I’d tried doing a little in PowerPoint, but that just wasn’t the same. Plus, this scrapbook software also works for many other things like additions to decorating, cards, etc. They also have nice add-on kits to get more paper, embellishments, and texts. I really like that you can change your photos into more than 20 different shapes and apply over 15 different effects for photos from the traditional black & white to more creative ones like Impressionist Painting, I think that would be fun to use as a
background like this:
Once I realized that the components of the pack I downloaded (I’m Falling For You) were filed with all the other components, I was able to quite quickly make a template for a photo book page for Thanksgiving family photos:
I like that you can insert a duplicate page so that they match, and can even insert a duplicate & mirrored page, so they can complement each other.
Then I decided to try other uses for it and made a couple quotes to print out for my fall decorating; you can see one on my Fall/Thanksgiving Hutch. Also the photo in the “Polaroid” at the top of this post I made with the software. And here is a sample place card I made that could be used for a Thanksgiving dinner:
One really nice thing about this program is that it has many of the same shortcuts as Windows Office, which makes it easy if, like me, you prefer to copy by clicking Ctrl+C instead of looking for the copy button. It also has a nice gridline feature which is great for trying to center things like layers on the place card. I may even try to make greeting cards with this as I think they would look real nice, just would need to decide how to print them. I also like that you can change just part of the text in a text box to bold or italics, something that many other photobook software's do not offer.
Another thing I really liked was I had downloaded some embellishments from another site to use before I found this software, and I was easily able to add them in as photos, and they worked just fine.
Now for the fun part for you, my readers, My Memories has offered to give one of my readers their own copy of their My Memories Suite. So, here is what you need to do, the deadline for entering is midnight, Eastern time on October 14. And I plan to announce the winner on October 15:
For your first and mandatory entry(If your commenting identity does not have a contact e-mail, please leave it in the mandatory entry, I’d hate for someone to win, but have to have it given to someone else because we couldn’t get ahold of them):
Go to: MyMemories.com and check out some of the kits they offer tell us what kit you would like to use for a project.
Bonus entries (comments with these entries will only be counted if the poster has already done the mandatory entry):
- Leave a comment telling us what that project would be. Something like, “I would use the Giving Thanks pack to make place tags for Thanksgiving dinner”
- If you’re on Facebook: like me @ Scribbling Sarah and/or My Memories and leave a comment for each one you like.
- You can also follow them on Twitter and/or Google Friend Connect with the My Memories Blog and leave a comment for each one you do.
Didn’t win or can’t wait to try it out? Well, I can also offer you a deal:

Baby Mine Boy is super cute. I would use it to make a scrapbook for my son who is due October 15. The set is cute without being too girly. I might even use it to make some room decorations.
